Gold Medal has a nice fragrance
Veteran's Honor has no fragrance.

My preference is a scented rose, but with modern hybrids they sacrifice fragrance for beauty..... a shame really....I now look for roses that give me both.....

Autumn Belle -- thank you so much & I thoroughly enjoyed your post and detailed photos of <a href="http://mynicegarden.blogspot.com/2009/11/erythrina-glauca-red-flower-tree.html" rel="nofollow">Erythrina Glauca</a>.

Redneck Rosarian -- what a great identity you've chosen, I love it! Must look into those two flowers you mention...are they scented?

Great post. So true, some roses die better than others. Our Veteran's Honor and Gold Medal roses have long lasting blooms.

It is great to know if a rose "dies" attractively, before you invest the time and money in it. There is always so much to do in the garden, deadheading rotting, brown roses, is not one task that I would wish to take on.
