Follow me on Twitter
I am a total Twitter convert — see my Twitter page or just poke around Twitter to find other likeminded gardening folk.
Don’t miss Twitterfall for an even better way to track who’s talking about what.
Yeah, I hear you — I was saying, “I don’t get Twitter,” until the Fission Creative guys gave me a bit of a crash course in it last month. I now realise it’s like a Google for gossip…but it’s easy to screen out the noise (“here’s a picture of my lunch!”…”I can’t find my keys!”…) if you search by keyword for relevant topics. If something makes it to Twitter on your chosen topic, or from a trusted contact, it’s probably a truly useful nugget of information — pre-screened by a global network of meerkats, all on the lookout for nuggets, and all eager to tell everyone what they’ve found.
These nuggets can become very useful: business development leads, a way to connect with fellow hobbyists, or news leads if you’re a journalist. Start off tweeting about and following tweeters who cover topics you are passionate about. The applications in other parts of your life – like your profession – will then become clear.
