Infinite camellias
I can’t stop thinking about the perfect, scrolled flowers of Camellia japonica Alba Plena. Who can resist the white infinity of these flowers? We saw a similar flower form at a friend’s wedding in Washington DC this spring, a stunning red called Glen 40 (the camellia guys at Trehane Nursery tell me it’s also called Coquetti — thank you, Trehane for use of the picture!) I want the same scrolling flower form but need white for this part of the garden in March/April. I want to fan-train it against a 4 foot wall beneath a white lilac, with white Emperor tulips and some multiheaded narcissus behind — Cheerfulness and Silver Chimes. Paying 23 quid for a single plant is painful — I can’t quite bring myself to do it. Yet.
